Words from the winemaker:

“A bone dry Rosé style showing delicate white floral and herbal nuances amidst a multi-layered red fruit profile. Schist rock and freshness combining local varietals, nurtured by Douro sunshine and representing the region’s classicism. Enjoy it! “ - Jorge Alves, Winemaker

Production

Year - produced for the first time in 2020 and an immediate hit; this pale, bone-dry, crisp and elegant style showcases a lighter, fresher expression of Douro Valley's terroir and native grape varieties

Grapes - Touriga Franca (35%), Tinta Roriz (35%) and Touriga Nacional (30%).

Terroir - schist soil, Mediterranean climate (low yearly rainfall and dry, hot summers), grade A classified and sustainably-farmed vineyards at a slightly higher elevation than those we harvest our Port wine grapes from.

Winemaking - hand-picked from separate parcels, estate-grown grapes are de-stemmed, crushed and delicately pressed in minimal contact with their skins before fermenting and ageing for 5 months in 90% stainless steel and 10% cocciopesto amphora. Cocciopesto is an ancient Roman material made with sand, stone and clay that allows for micro-oxygenation and a more complex mouthfeel and aroma bouquet.

Annual Production - 4,900 bottles

Alcohol - 13%

Tasting

See - pale, “eye of partridge”, rose petal.

Smell - complex layers of fresh gooseberry, raspberry and peach skin, with rockrose, lilac and herbal notes, and schistous minerality.

Sip - bone dry with fresh acidity; elegant layers of raspberry, strawberry and grapefruit; voluminous mouthfeel with linear structure and long length.

Enjoy - now or within 2-3 years, chilled (10°C/50°F) with fresh goat cheese, salads with toasted seeds and herbs, roasted chicken and vegetables, pastas, seafood and curry dishes.
