Production
Year - 2022; produced every year, this single-harvest blend represents Quinta do Tedo's overall grape quality and flavors!
Grapes - Touriga Nacional (35%), Touriga Franca (30%), Tinta Roriz (35%).
Terroir - schist soil, Mediterranean climate (low yearly rainfall and dry, hot summers), grade A classified vineyards at a slightly higher elevation than those we harvest our Port wine grapes from.
Winemaking - hand-picked from separate parcels, estate-grown grapes are de-stemmed, crushed and put into stainless steel tanks, where they undergo pre-fermentation maceration for 3 days, followed by temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation for 7 days, and a final 5 days of post-fermentation maceration. Malolactic fermentation, followed by 10-12 months aging, in stainless steel tanks (40%) and new and used 225 liter (60 gallons) French oak barrels (60%) before blending and bottling.
Production - 6,500 bottles
Alcohol - 14%
Tasting
See - deep ruby.
Smell - black fruit (blackberry, cherry, and currants) with a hint of vanilla and spice (white pepper).
Sip - medium to bodied; balanced and intense with ripened tannins; fruity, intense with some savory notes; a very long and persistent finish with high precision.
Enjoy - now or in up to 10 years, cool (16°C/61°F), with white or red meat (roast chicken, pork loin stuffed with prunes and apricots, a marinated leg of lamb, grilled meats, pasta with ragu), bacalhau or tuna steaks, or roast vegetables - this is a very "food-friendly" wine.
